Pet-friendly public beaches

At the seaside with your four-legged friend

In Comacchio, dogs are special guests too.
Our coastline offers several free pet-friendly beaches, where you can spend sunny, relaxing days together with your adventure companion. Golden sand, clean sea and plenty of space to run, play and cool off in the water, fully respecting nature and coexistence rules.

Dog-friendly beaches on the Comacchio Riviera

Here are the locations where you can access with your dog:

  • Lido di Spina – Free beach next to Bagno Lido (30 metres of beachfront and 50 metres in depth).
  • Lido degli Estensi – Stretch of free beach beside Blue Moon (30 metres of beachfront and 100 metres in depth).
  • Porto Garibaldi – Free beach area south of Park Emilio (30 metres of beachfront and 50 metres in depth).
  • Lido delle Nazioni – Privately owned free beach between Bagno Albatros and Bagno Mexico.
  • Lido di Volano – Stretch of free beach between Bagno Franco and Bagno New Age (30 metres of beachfront and 25 metres in depth).

All areas are clearly signposted and delimited to ensure peace and safety for all guests, both on two and four legs.

What to know before going to the beach

To access the dog-friendly beaches:

  • The dog must be regularly registered in the canine registry.
  • It must always be kept on a leash.
  • The owner must provide water, shade and well-being for the animal.
  • Only healthy dogs, free from parasites, are allowed.
  • Females in heat are not permitted.
  • It is mandatory to collect waste and use the designated containers.

Respecting these simple rules allows everyone to enjoy a clean, welcoming and safe beach.

A dip together? You can!

In the sea areas in front of the dog-friendly beaches, it is also allowed to swim with your animal, following some safety rules:

  • A maximum of five dogs at a time, each with a stay of ten minutes.
  • The dog must remain on a leash even during the swim.
  • Swimming is under the owner’s responsibility.

Permitted Times

  • In April, May and September: from sunrise to 10:00 a.m. and from 6:00 p.m. until sunset.
  • In June, July and August: from sunrise to 7:00 a.m. and from 7:30 p.m. until sunset.
  • From October to March: access and swimming are free all day.

During the summer season, stopping or walking on the shoreline is not permitted, as this area is mainly intended for swimmers and children’s activities.
