"MURA APERTE" project

The "Mura Aperte" project (literally "open walls") aims to promote some spaces around the southern walls, which have been restored to enhance their shape, urban identity and to develop their function for cultural, tourism, recreational and sustainable mobility purposes.

Inside Porta Paola a technological Visitor Center has been built, along with an interactive SmartMap that allows visitors to learn more about the history of Ferrara's southern walls. The SmartMap has two sides: on one side there is a QRCode which leads to a podcast that describes the journey around the walls; on the other side there is a timeline that shows the main restoration works.
