The Porto Oasis, Smaltara basin at Trava, is an ancient site on the Po river delta system near the Mezzano Lagoons.

It covers 11 hectares with a seven-hectare stretch of water, where there are several basins, including the Smaltara basin. In this corner of nature, you can stop and spend a few hours walking among the small islands connected by wooden bridges, fishing or admiring the typical valley landscape.

Various archaeological finds have been made in Trava, most notably a Spinetica-era dugout canoe, discovered in 1907 and now lost. This was the site of the ancient Padòa river branch, on which the towns of Portoverrara and Portomaggiore were built.
