Veduta di Berra
Veduta di Berra

In the plain's countrysides, surounded by watercourses and natural landscapes, it is touched by the Po river's waters and full of paths and itineraries.

The territory is made up by the municipalities of Berra and Ro

Berra

Founded around the year 1000, the village was built in the area near the Po river, which was once used as mooring for the ferries and boats that transported goods on the river, testifying its connection to trade and the river.

Not far from the town centre, Villa Giglioli, once summer residence of the Giglioli family, represents the historically relevant heritage of the rural aristocracy. Another interesting place is the Sanctuary of the Madonna della Galvana, a small, sacred building built after a revered Marian image was found in 1812 near the Po river after its floods.

Serravalle is another evocative municipality: it symbolically marks the beginning of the Po Delta area, right in front of the Punta di Santa Maria. Also known as "Porta del Delta", this place has an essential role in the Delta landscape, as it offers an authentical glance over one of the most fascinating river ecosystems in Europe.
The Porta del Delta is an equipped tourist centre, with a restaurant, a private camping, a sports facility and a river mooring that allows boats to stop for refreshing break.

Ro

The mill on the Po
The mill on the Po river is not only an open air museum, but it also represents an actual symbol of the local manufacturing industry.

Located in Ro, it is an accurate reconstruction of an old water mill. From here it is possible to start discovering the area and taste the famous "coppia" bread.

It is an accurate reconstruction of the common water mills that used to populate the river until 1912. It represents the simplest model, with one waterwheel and a perfectly functioning millstone.
It is 12,20 metres long and 9,36 metres wide.

AT THE MOMENT THE MILL IS NOT OPEN TO VISITORS DUE TO MAINTENANCE WORK. THIS WEBSITE WILL BE UPDATED AS SOON AS IT OPENS AGAIN
