The Municipal Gallery Il Guercino is the main cultural centre of Cento. It hosts the world's biggest collection of Giovanni Francesco Barbieri's - known as “il Guercino” - masterpieces, along with works by his followers.

It hosts 120 masterpieces among paintings and sculptures, 46 drawings and 20 detached frescos. The public and art enthusiasts can observe 16 altarpieces and paintings and 11 drawings by Giovanni Francesco Barbieri (1591-1666) - il Guercino - himself, along with many other pieces by famous artists such as Scarsellino, Guido Reni, Ludovico Carracci, Matteo Loves.

There are many masterpieces by the 17th century artist, so the exposition is spread on two floors: on the ground floor, in chronological order, is exposed the history and culture of the town according to the area's most relevant art works. The first floor is entirely dedicated to Guercino and his school, including the last two rooms focusing on gender painting and portraits.
