Located in an 18th century farmhouse with barn known as "La Tratta", the Museum of tradition and material culture of Copparo offers a vast variety of materials.
The museum was built in 1986, when Severino Peron sold his collection of farming materials of the Ferrara area, to which other private donations were added throughout the years. Since year 2000, thanks to an intense restoration work, the museum is located inside the farmhouse with barn known as "La Tratta", placing the objects in their original location.
The exhibition shows the main productive cycles in the Copparo area: the wheat cycle, the wine cycle and the hemp cycle, trying to replicate an accurate bedroom, kitchen and stable in order to make the experience as similar to the past as possible.
On June 2nd 2020, the Museum was reopened with a new and renovated timeline, in which the rural countyside life meets the historical testaments of World War II.
Local and military history and aeronautic archeology blend together in the farmhouse, guiding visitors through time to discover the aeronautic technology and the stories of pilots and planes that fell on the Copparo area. The Museum hosts the results of the researches made by the volunteer group AdA Archeologi dell'Aria, who looked for the remains of World War II felled airplanes, also giving the families of the missing soldiers tangible information about their loved ones.
