Copparo
Important centre for Ferrara's economy, it was built during the High Middle Ages in the heart of a fertile land and later developed around the Estense "Delizia"
Copparo – Este history and agricultural vocation
Located in the heart of a ferile plain, Copparo is one of the most important economic centres in the province of Ferrara, thanks to its developed agriculture and its modern and dynamic production system. Its origins go back to the High Middle Ages, as proven by documents that mention it long before the year 1000.

The city was built around one of the famous Estense "Delizie", elegant villas used for relaxing and hunting. The "Delizia", commissioned by Ercole II d'Este in 1540, was built on the ruins of a palace and is still used today as the city hall. Although it was restored in 1822, the building still has three of its original towers with their battlements from the 16th century.
Aside from its historical and architectural heritage, Copparo is known for its productive rural landscape, which shows its agricultural traditions and their development overtime. Copparo is the perfect destination for those who want to get to know the authentic countryside of Ferrara, where Estense culture lives on through the marks left on the territory.
