Villa Vittoria, Migliaro
Villa Vittoria, Migliaro

The origin of the name Migliaro is subject to various interpretations. The most credible hypotheses refer to:

Millarium, an ancient agricultural measure used for vineyards, or Miliarius, linked to the presence of fields cultivated with millet, as also evidenced by the municipal coat of arms.

A fascinating local legend, although without historical evidence, tells that the name derives from migliaio (thousand): it is said that about a thousand inhabitants broke away from Massafiscaglia following a rebellion, founding a new settlement about 4 km away, the current Migliaro.

Today, Migliaro is part of the municipality of Fiscaglia and still preserves elements that bear witness to its rural and community identity, which developed over the centuries in the wake of the peasant civilisation typical of the Ferrara area.
