Once you arrive in Gorino, as in Goro, it is easy to see that this is a fishing area. The last fishing station before the sea, from Gorino you can cross a bridge and follow the path that will take you to Lanterna Vecchia.

In 1864, the first lighthouse in Goro was built near the coastline.

The complex also included other buildings, some remains of which still stand today, but the lighthouse tower and the dwelling were blown up by the retreating Germans, destroying them.

At this point, semi-destroyed, La Lanterna was now 4 km from the new coastline, rendering it useless to fishermen and sailors and thus sealing its future fate.

The fate of the Old Lighthouse is similar to that of other historical artefacts in the area which, due to various circumstances, but above all due to the evolving nature of the Delta, have been decommissioned.

Now privately owned, the Old Lighthouse peacefully watches over the area as it continues to evolve, but since the 1950s, it has been replaced in its operational functions by the more recent and well-known Goro Lighthouse.
