The Macchinina Massacre (March 28, 1944) was a terrible and dark moment in history that took place on the banks of the river between Goro and Gorino during the Fascist period.

Goro, which had already suffered the disastrous consequences of reprisals by Fascist squads in its theater during the twenty years of Fascist rule, was now experiencing one of the saddest and most traumatic moments in its history.

The monument is located on the embankment that runs from Goro to Gorino, along the right bank of the Po, just before reaching the Gorino Ponte in Chiatte.
