The parish church dates back to before the 15th century, but was rebuilt in the 18th century; restoration work in 1970 sought to recover its original Romanesque lines.

In Sandolo, in the heart of the village, stands the Romanesque parish church. The facade is simple and has a large architraved portal with a triangular pediment. There are good reasons to believe that the church was originally a three-nave basilica: the central and right naves, as you enter, remain as historical evidence of the previous layout. The church is compact in size: 18 meters long and 5 meters wide; it is accessed through a single entrance door surmounted by a window with a wrought iron grille. The interior is very impressive and houses a 17th-century baptismal font, a Byzantine holy water font, and a painting depicting The Baptism of Jesus in the Jordan attributed to Giuseppe Mazzolani, an important painter from Portomaggiore in the late 19th century. The bell tower is very small and topped with a spire.
