Ostellato
A village of ancient origins, it experienced economic development with la Grande Bonifica Ferrarese.
It may be of Roman origins (there have been numerous findings ascribable to that era), but the name Ustullatum first appeared in a papal bull issued by Gregory V in 997. The Estes had a residence here. Starting from 1598, when it came under the Papal State, it experienced an economic decline that was only reversed between 1800 and 1900 following large-scale drainage and agrarian reforms. Today green tourism has become an important element of the local economy.
The Anse Vallive Nature Reserve in Ostellato is what remained of the ancient lagoons that surrounded the village and is now a centre where you can enjoy many activities in contact with nature, including sport fishing.
